Don’t Be Fooled This Black Friday & Cyber Monday

The two biggest days of the retail year can become very overwhelming. The sheer volume of deals and sales being advertised can leave you feeling dumbfounded. Here at Discount Vouchers, we want you to get the best deals and save as much money as you can over the course of the Black Friday weekend. We want to make sure you don’t get fooled by the tricks of the trade. Here are some of the Do’s and Don’ts surrounded around Black Friday and Cyber Monday…

Don’t Be Fooled By Derivative Deals

Over the course of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you will come across a whole array of deals and sales. Something that you will see is derivative deals. These are items that look very similar to flagship items but are usually made using cheaper materials with lower specifications. Electronic items are very prone to this, so make sure that you always make sure you know what product it is you are buying as the deal you’re getting may not be as good as what you first thought.

Don’t Be Fooled Online

When you’re shopping online with sites that you haven’t heard of before, it is always a good idea to go with your gut. If a deal feels too good to be true, there is a chance that it probably is. If something has a 95% discount on a very small site, the chances are that this deal really isn’t something that is going to be of high quality.

Always Check The Discount

This is something that some people will already know but it is always good to be made aware of. Just because a company will tell you that a product is available for a discounted price, doesn’t mean that it really is. There have been many revelations where big retailers have been exposed for misleading discount claims. Many products will gradually reduce in price but you may find that the discounted price advertised is in comparison to the original price. If you already know what you want to buy this Black Friday it may be worth checking the prices of the product on a range of different sites before the sales start.

Don’t Be Sidetracked By The Discount

Just because an item is on sale doesn’t mean it’s always a great buy. Remember that if a £1,000 TV has been reduced to £750, you aren’t saving £250, you’re spending £750. This is such an important thing to remember.

Always Be On Your Guard

In recent times there have been many scams that have occurred in the retail industry. One of the ones that you should be on your guard with is the ‘Click and Collect’ scam. The way that this works is you will receive emails asking you to click on a link and enter your details to rearrange a delivery. If you then receive an email asking for credit card details to verify delivery, this is when things become suspicious. If the email you receive doesn’t have any details of the item/s you ordered, retrace your order trail and contact the company. You’ll then be able to find out if the emails you received were legit.

Make the most of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, just remember to keep your wits about you, don’t be fooled…
