Half price offer on London theatre tickets

Until 29 May, theatre tickets at 50 per cent off are being offered on Lastminute.com for a number of London shows. Tickets to “Chicago”, for example, that are normally £59 have been reduced to £29.50, and for “Grease”, top-priced seats are available for £26.75, instead of £53.50.

Birthdays chain placed in administration

The UK greeting card chain Birthdays has been placed into administration by Clinton Cards, its parent company, meaning that over 2,000 employees are at risk of losing their jobs across 332 stores.
Turnaround specialist Zolfo Cooper was been appointed administrator of the loss-making retailer.

April UK retail sales higher than expected

During the month of April, retail sales in the UK showed an increase that was much larger than expected, as lower interest rates seemed to maintain levels of consumer spending.

The Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC) crediting the timing of Easter this year and warmer weather during the month for helping boost sales.

Strong first quarter reported by ASDA
