Blair memoirs break Waterstone sales records

by Adam Richards

Tony Blair’s A Journey has broken Waterstone records for sales of an autobiography, and the book continues to fly off the shelves at stores across the UK. Bookstores from around the country have said that the literary work describing Mr Blair’s time in at 10 Downing Street has been a bigger hit than even David Beckham and Russell Brand’s autobiographies, and the writing has even taken the number one spot on Amazon’s best-seller list.

A spokesperson for Waterstone declined to give actual figures, but said that sales of the book have achieved unprecedented numbers and has been an incredible success since it made its debut earlier this week. He went on to add that the volume of copies sold is more akin to what one would expect to see with Harry Potter novels, and that Waterstone has never before experienced sales of this magnitude with an autobiography.

Mr Blair’s memoirs include detailed descriptions of the time he spent as Prime Minister, particularly regarding his interactions with Gordon Brown, who he described as a ‘maddening’ individual. The former PM also talks about his own alcohol consumption, and notes in the book that he has concerns about how much he drinks each day.
