Blair memoirs slam Brown

by Sally Davies

Tony Blair has labelled Gordon Brown as a “maddening” and an individual who has zero emotional intelligence in his soon-to-be-published memoirs.

The Guardian released some extracts of Mr Blair’s book prior to its release, which also provides insight into the personal life of Mr Blair himself, such as his concerns over his drinking habits, as he has he has one glass of whiskey and tonic each evening prior to dinner, followed by several glasses of wine.

The book, which is set to be released on 1 September at 08:00 BST, also talks about the 2003 invasion of Iraq, regarding which Mr Blair said he felt extreme anguish, but does not regret. The literary offering took the ex-PM three years to write, and focuses mainly on his time spent in 10 Downing Street, with particular attention to the relationship he had with Mr Brown while he served under Mr Blair as Chancellor.

Mr Blair said in his book that Mr Brown is somewhat of a strange fellow, and although he knew his term as Prime Minister would never be a success, it would have been nearly impossible to prevent Mr Brown from taking the office. Mr Blair went on to say that Mr Brown lacked political instinct at the gut level, as well as had absolutely no emotional intelligence whatsoever.
