Angry couple blasts BA for temporarily losing cat
by Natasha Redman
British Airways has been under fire from a couple who claim the airline was lax in its treatment of their cats, one of which was lost by BA staff for several hours at an airport in Greece. Kit and Megan Peel, originally from North Yorkshire, had been living in Greece and were taking a trip to visit their old home in Nidderdale when the incident occurred at the airport in Athens.
Mr and Mrs Peel claim that their cats Spartacus and Tancredi were mishandled by BA staff in Athens, which resulted in Spartacus managing to escape his cage and roam around the airport for several hours. According to Mr Peel, Spartacus broke free from his cage while it was being put through the x-ray machine, and fled into a cargo area of the facility.
He went on to say that the area in which Spartacus ran wild was very busy and full of activity, and was probably one of the worst places in the airport to lose a cat. Mr Peel also said that he was shocked and appalled that BA staff could manage to lose an animal at the airport.
A representative for BA said that staff attempted to use food to lure the cat back into his cage, and although this was not successful, managed to find and catch Spartacus the next day. The representative went on to say that the cat was flown back to the UK at no charge.
