Shopping by iPhone introduced in the UK

UK owners of the iPhone and iPod Touch will be able to purchase and pay for goods using a new MoBank application developed for these devices.
Following a soft launch of the application, CEO Steve Townsend says that more aggressive marketing will begin early next week.
MoBank customers will be able to book and pay for concert and movie tickets, as well as order fast food or buy a pair of shoes, for example. The biggest advantage, according to Townsend, is the convenience: “You can do what you want, when you want.”
The application for the iPhone can be downloaded from the AppStore, where users register either a credit or debit card for payment purposes. Townsend noted that a personal identification number is issued to ensure security. For iPod Touch users, a Wi-Fi connection is necessary in order to use the application.
The AppStore was developed for mobile phone users, rather than using an Internet site without modifications, according to the company executive. The purpose-built “store” makes it easier for users to navigate, he added.
As with regular e-commerce, most items purchased are delivered directly to the buyer, although tickets will have to be picked up at the box office.
