Jfour, the Italian designer jeans brand, is opening its first standalone shop in the Britain and preparing for rapid expansion throughout the UK.
Entrepreneur Robert de Keyser is involved in the opening of the Walton-on-Thames shop in Surrey and is planning 13 more shop openings before the end of 2009.
De Keyser has brought Rowland Gee on board to accelerate the expansion. Gee was a non-executive director of Moss Bros, and, since 2003, has been a non-executive director of De Keyser’s investment company. He will retain this position as he takes up the new Jfour role.
Gee commented: “We’re on a big retail push. We want to be less reliant on our wholesale business and be more the masters of our own destiny, and there are tremendous property deals to be done.”
Jfour has reported signing deals with St David’s centre in Cardiff, with Liverpool One and Belfast.
Gee said that negotiations were underway for additional shops around the UK, in locations including Aberdeen, Bluewater, Glasgow and Livingston, and that all of them are expected to be open by the end of this year.
