Sky TV viewers think Burley too aggressive in interview
by Harry Oldfield
Sky TV viewers have complained about presenter Kay Burley after her interview with a political campaigner was seen as overly aggressive. Hundreds of viewers raised concerns about the way Burley handled her questions with David Babbs, the director of campaign reform group 38 Degrees. Babbs and thousands of others were protesting in the streets of London, calling for election reform after the national elections last week left the UK in political limbo.
Babbs was attempting to speak to the crowd about election reform and the possible coalition between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats when Burley repeatedly interrupted him with her line of questioning. The perpetual interruptions included statements to the effect that the 38 Degrees protest was fruitless, and that Babbs and all his fellow protestors were better off going home to watch the election aftermath unfold on Sky TV.
Burley is no stranger to controversy in regards to her interviewing methods, as this incident comes shortly after an interview with Peter Andre brought the famous singer to tears. Although communications watchdog Ofcom cleared Burley of any wrongdoing in the interview with Andre, the incident left a sour taste in viewers’ mouths, and Burley has seen her popularity tumble. Sky TV received almost 1,000 complaints about Burley after her haranguing of Andre.
