Fashion world praise The Queen
by Sally Davies
The Queen has been recognised as a fashion icon by models and designers at a gathering held at Buckingham Palace for the British clothing industry.
In a light floral print outfit, the Queen mingled with the likes of Twiggy, Sophie Dahl, Erin O’Connor and Zandra Rhodes, all who had nothing else to say but praise when it came to the 83 year old monarch’s fashion sense.
The Queen, who was accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh was given a tour of cutting-edge design and accessories by up-and-coming designers at the gathering.
Prince Philip spent considerable time looking at a military-style jacket covered in gold Swarovski crystals with accompanying helmet and skinny trousers.
The creator of the clothing, Katie Eary said that Prince Philip asked who would wear the clothing, to which Eary replied that musicians and rockstars would.
The Duke of Edinburgh took an interest in most of the displays, all by graduates from the Royal College of Art, where designed by people born outside of the UK.
Eary said that she was an admirer of the Queen’s sense of fashion, describing her attire as quite conservative, but still stylish.
