New Boyzone album tops the charts
by Natasha Redman
The first album since the death of bandmate Stephen Dately has shot straight to the top of the UK charts, while the band is set to give their first performance together since the popstar’s untimely death.
The single Brother is the band’s firth number one album and features vocals recorded by Gately shortly before his death in Majorca.
The singer, 33, died from natural causes while holidaying in a Majorcan villa in October last year, and had been working on a new album for Boyzone shortly before his death.
The band released one of the tracks off the album in January as a tribute to Gately.
The single, Gave It All Away begins with Gately’s singing “I’ve learned to live before I do, I’ve learned to love and learned to try not to give it all away.”.
At the time of the release of the track, Boyzone singer Ronan Keating said that the four members had given their heart and soul to the song and to make the best possible record that they could for Stephen and his family.
He went on to say that Stephen had recorded the entire song, so they were able to go away and work with what he had done.
Keating said that he hoped the end result did him justice, and thought the song was beautiful.
Meanwhile, Boyzone had revealed that they were almost ready to commence touring again.
The band, which performed for the first time since Gately’s death last week, said that sales of their album had inspired them to get on the road and tour again.
