Sir Alex Ferguson expects a tight finish
by Adam Richards
Owner of Manchester United FC, Sir Alex Ferguson, is anticipating one of the tightest finishes in the history of the Premier League.
He witnessed Wayne Rooney score two goals as his team won against Fulham 3-0 on Sunday to move two points ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal to the top of the table.
Ferguson said that at the moment, it was looking like the tightest Premier League that has ever been seen, with only eight games left.
The Premier League championship has only ever been decided by a one point margin three times before, with Blackburn defeating United in 1994/95, Arsenal pipping the Red Devils in 1997/98, and United gaining their revenge on London competitors the following season.
Ferguson said that there could only be one winner, and believes it is going to be Man U.
Ferguson’s team, who plays the next two home games against Liverpool and Chelsea, has a superior goal difference over the Blues and the Gunners, in spite of Chelsea having a game in hands on their rivals.
Ferguson pointed out that, compared with the differences of goals scored, United was only four goals ahead of Chelsea, and that it was in MU’s favour.
He went on to ad that it’s a simple way for the team and Chelsea to look at it just to win all the games, but life was never that simple.
