Trouble hits Neighbour’s set
by Paul Russell
Popular around the world as setting for the iconic Aussie soap Neighbours, was not so neighbourly after an extra smashed up a set and was taken from the studio by police, it has been reported.
Executive producer of the show Susan Bower said that filming had been cancelled and all cast and crew removed from the set on Friday after the regular extra began acting in a very distressed state.
It was reported that Ms Bower confirmed yesterday that police were called in to the studio and the woman was taken to hospital by ambulance after slicing her wrist on glass while filming a scene in Charlie’s Bar.
Bower described the incident as a bit of a shock.
She said that one of the regular extras wasn’t feeling very well and started behaving in an extraordinary way.
The extra was in a very distressed state and swung her hand and knocked a glass off the table.
A producer said that the woman then walked off the set and into the Kennedys’ house set, where she sat with a nurse and a security guard prior to being escorted from the Melbourne studio by police.
He said that the crew were concerned for the welfare of everyone and removed all cast and crew until the police arrived to assess the situation.
She broke a couple of items so the situation was cleared immediately to make sure everyone was OK and waited for authorities to arrive.
She was helped by police and went willingly with them.
