Jon Venables back in prison over child porn allegations
by Paul Russell
UK Media have been reporting that one of the killers of James Bugler, Jon Venables, was recalled to prison on suspicion of child pornography offences.
It has been said by some that Venables, 27, had been accused of child pornography offences, which have come after earlier reports that he had been linked to a sex offence. The new revelations have put immense pressure on Justice Secretary, Jack Straw to end the speculation by announcing the exact reason that Venables had been recalled.
Shadow home secretary Chris Grayling said that the government and the probation service had serious questions to answer about what appears to have bee repeated breaches of the murderer’s parole conditions.
Mr Straw has only said that the recall of Venables involved extremely serious allegations.
A spokesman for the mother of murdered James Bulger, said that she couldn’t understand why he didn’t appear in a dock under his own name, if that’s going to be where he ends up.
If, after that, depending on the outcome of the court case, the powers that be decide that he should have some new identity yet again, and that would be dealt with when we come to it.
When questioned about how Mrs Fergus reacted to the new claims to Venables recall, he replied that she was appalled and didn’t think he should be at liberty anyway.
The spokesman said that he should really have served a sentence of something in the order of 15 years and should be coming up for parole now.
It has been widely reported that Venables has breached his parole conditions on numerous occasions by visiting Liverpool to go clubbing and to watch Everton FC in spite of a total ban on him going to Merseyside.
