Virgin Mobile customers satisfied with service
by Natasha Redman
Recently published research shows that Virgin Mobile provided more satisfaction for Australian customers than any other provider over the course of 2010. The study was conducted by Roy Morgan Research and also found that there was high level of customer satisfaction with the VHA brand ‘3’.
The data was collected between January and December from more than 14,000 people who owned one or more mobile handsets. For the last six months of the year figures showed that 84 per cent of those who were using Virgin as a provider and 80 per cent of those using 3 were either fairly satisfied or very satisfied with the services they were paying for.
The number of customers who admitted to being satisfied with the service being given by Optus was 73 per cent. Optus was the only other telco to record satisfaction levels above the industry’s 71 per cent average. Vodafone achieved 70 per cent customer satisfaction and Telstra managed 65 per cent.
According to director of mobile, internet and technology at RMR, Andrew Braun, although Telstra’s results appear to be a long way behind the leaders, the company had managed to improve its position through the second half of the year.
Overall, most telcos managed to improve their levels of customer satisfaction. However, Vodafone – recently plagued by privacy and coverage issues – fell from 74 per cent to 70 per cent. Although last on the list, Telstra managed to grow satisfaction from 62 pr cent to 65 per cent, an indication that the provider is following through with pledges to improve its customer service.
