Coroner reports Brittany Murphy’s death as preventable
by Paul Russell
Actress Brittany Murphy would probably have survived if she had gone to a doctor in time, a coroner said.
It has been revealed by assistant chief coroner Ed Winters, that actress Brittany Murphy’s death from pneumonia was by accident.
It is believed that her death could have been prevented if she had seen a doctor, he said, but noted that she did have an appointment with a GP a few days after she passed away.
He went on to say that prescription drugs and anemia had also played a role in the star’s death.
Mr Winter would not comment on what types of drugs were involved, band said that further details would be released in a few weeks when the report was completed.
He concluded by saying that there was no evidence of any wrongdoing.
Murphy died after she collapsed in her Hollywood Hills home. Husband, Simon Monjack, and her mother Sharon Murphy, have said the actress did not abuse prescription meds or have an eating disorder.
They both told investigators that she had been experiencing flu-like symptoms in the days leading up to her death.
Mr Monjack said last month that his wife had been taking several prescriptions, including an anti-seizure drug and had been taking Robitussin for her recent illness.
