Most people go for the rides, and there are more than 100 of them, from white-knuckle rollercoasters down to easier-going children's rides. The Navigator, Circulator, Kumali, and impossibly steep Mumbo Jumbo are among the extreme rides, while little kids have the Muddy duck tractor ride, Dragon coaster and Splash Battle.

Also look out for the fun family rides and scenic rides, plus there are daily shows with sea lions and birds. The zoo is also a big part of the park, which was the original intention of Flamingo Land. It features over 1,000 animals, including tigers, camels, giraffes, hippos and chimps and, of course, myriad flamingos. Look out for a Flamingo Land discount voucher for the zoo.

Flamingo Land was started in 1959 when Edwin Pentland Hick turned an old country club into the Yorkshire Zoological Gardens. The park was then just a few acres and he had to rent out the animals, with flamingos among the first on the scene. Robert Gibb bought the park and renamed it the Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo in the 1970s.

Today, Flamingo Land attracts close to two million people a year and resides on 375 acres of North Yorkshire parkland. As well as the rides and zoo are a leisure centre, golf course, spa and gym, plus some accommodation. Great discount vouchers at Flamingo Land have also been incorporated.
