Why a PC is miles better than a Mac

The Mac vs PC or PC vs Mac is a fight that has taken on a life of its own. Each side has a fight to the death mentality about being right concerning their choice. The ads and discussions are more about insulting the other party than about proving their own position. The truth is that both the PC and the Mac have a place in the industry.

There are pros and cons to both types of computers but it is the PC that has won the hearts of most consumers through a number of different routes. The variety, compatibility and affordability has allowed the PC to find its way to becoming the top choice for most users around the globe.

1.    Choosing a PC will give you the widest selection of software and hardware around. There are still a number of programs that will not work with the Mac operating system. The PC is the best choice for a wide range of business programs and gaming software.

2.    There is a huge selection in the computers themselves as well. There are only around seven systems to choose from with the Mac. PC choices are almost limitless. The PCs come in all shapes and sizes and are made by a wide selection of manufacturers.

3.    More choices often mean lower prices. The PCs can be found for around $300 for a quality machine. The wide variety of computers on the market makes the competition high which helps to drive the prices down for the consumer. This means that you can get more power for your money. Price is often a big determining factor but it has taken even more prominence during these tough economic times.

4.    Getting help is easier with a PC than with the Mac. There are more technicians trained to work with the PC so finding the help that you need when you need it is usually just a phone call away. It’s a simple numbers game. There are more PCs in the world so there are more technicians trained to work on those computers.

5.    Windows Media Center allows users to access all media through one onscreen menu. Users are able to sync up with the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, other PCs or even the TV.

6.    The PC is more tinker friendly. It allows users to work on the computer at home. It is relatively simple for a user to add components as needed. Although consumers won’t save a fortune working on their own computers the PC does give them the ability to add and change the system after it comes into the home without having to call on a computer expert to accomplish the task.

7.    The PC is easier to customize completely. The consumer can decide how much storage is needed, the processor speed and every other element of the PC. The PC can literally be built from the top to the bottom according to the customer’s specific needs and specifications.

8.    A well maintained PC – one that is not overloaded with stockpiles of programs that eat the computer’s resources – will run as well as any Mac. It is usually the overloading that causes the crash problems. Hardware is easier to find for the PC.

Keep it clean, keep it uncluttered

9.    There are more printers and other components that are designed for the PC and for Windows on the market today. This means consumers can get the amenities that they need at a price that they can afford to pay.

10.    PC users can choose Windows or Linux for their operating needs. Linux offers an added security that Windows doesn’t mainly because there are more Windows users so hackers tend to target the larger numbers to make the most impact with the viruses that are released.

Variety is the spice of life and the PC has variety in spades. There is a variety of computers to choose from. There are a variety of ways the systems can be set up for each user. There are a variety of software programs and hardware components that can be used with the PC.

In the end, choosing the right computer is a very personal choice. It may not come down to just one element or another. It may be a combination of elements that lends you towards the PC or towards the Mac. For most consumers around the globe it is the PC that offers the most benefits at the right price for all the gaming, business and even publication needs that might come along.

Look over the reasons suggested above. Take the time to review the individual PC that you are interested in purchasing. You are sure to discover that there is a PC on the market today that will provide you with all that you desire and that the PC is a better fit than the Mac.

"I couldn't agree more. I maintain several mixed networks and the only time I have problems is when a supervisor decides that Apple is superior in a business environment simply because s/he can run MS Office on it while ignoring the actual needs of the power users under them."

"Totally agree with you.. I grew up using PC (still growing) and am never going to switch. Mac users poke at PC users with the virus thing. They've got this line 10000 virus on loose, never on a mac. Never on a mac.. because mac has't got much users."

"@Jack - I think if an operating system came along that was stable and fun to run like Tiger or Leopard; PCs would wipe the floor with Macs, with all their advantages. Perhaps it's the way that they are infinitley malleable, why they are so rubs some time."

"This is all true. The only thing that stinks about the PC is the annoying Microsoft Operating system. XP was okay, but I've always felt that a PC was fighting me too much."
